Spinach is also known as ‘Palak’. It is one of the leafy vegetable which can easily grow in our home garden. Spinach leaves are natural source of vitamins, anti-oxidents, so we can include them in our diet plan, which is good for the health of our eyes, increase metabolism and prevents many lifestyle deceases.
We can have raw or cooked spinach. Indian Spinach or Palak is commonly used in soups, salads, or we can mix it with other vegetables for preparing side dishes or stir fries.

How to grow spinach
The most appropriate time for sowing spinach seeds is September-march. We can use grow bags, trays, glasses for sowing. or we can sow them directly to ground.A mix of soil, sand, coco peat and cow dung powder will be a good potting mix. Soaking Spinach seeds in water overnight will help for faster germination. It will take up to seven days to germinate the seeds. Keep the soil moist every time. Spinach does not require excess watering. After the germination process has completed we can replant them to prepared soil bed. Always keep the plant or prepare soil in a place where it can get full sunlight. Irrigation should be done in the morning.
Harvesting
Spinach or Palak will be ready for harvesting within 45 days. It is better to use right away after cutting the leaves.
Everyone one can grow spinach in home because it does not require much space or special care.
