Safety Tips for Kids

Hi friends….hope you all are doing good. As a mother, today I am coming up with some safety tips for our kids. Normally, most child accidents occur during the summer holidays, because kids stay in their mom’s house or in their relative’s house to enjoy their vacations. These houses will not be child friendly, because kids of those houses will be grown up now. There may be uncovered wells or pits in the premises for example.

We could hear the tragic death of 3 siblings last week. It happened in a pond and 3 of them didn’t know how to swim. We all parents send our kids to lots of extracurricular activities. But it’s very important to teach them swimming also. It will be helpful to save the life of themselves or others in a lifetime. Also, we should teach the kids the tip that the drowned person will try to drag down the person who tries to help.

We cannot forget the tragic death of a 2-year-old son named “Kannan” of late Bhavani teacher of Muvattupuzha. She got a child at the age of 62, after long years of her married life. She got it through artificial pregnancy methods. It was a second’s carelessness that the child drowned in a bucket filled with water. When we observe we can see that child death in the age f 1 to 2 years mostly happens due to this reason. So let’s avoid keeping buckets or tubs filled with water in the bathrooms or kitchen.

Girls of age 7 to 12 have the habit of playing with their mom’s sarees or shawls. This too causes accidents. Swing’s string is also a reason. So when kids play with these things, parents should be very alert.

The next thing is our kitchen. Small kids always love to play in the kitchen, as mothers will be working there. We should never keep hot vessels at the edge of countertops. Kids tend to drag everything down. Just imagine, if some boiling water or oil falls on them…it will be a lifelong mistake with no “undo”.

We should be alert in choosing toys as well. We should be careful to choose toys. It should be without any small particles coming out. Because they have the habit of swallowing everything.

We should be too alert while crossing roads with kids. They easily get attracted to something on the opposite side and never cares about vehicles passing by. So never leave their hands while crossing. Also parents please watch if kids are nearby while taking the car from the parking area. Make sure they will not come running towards the vehicle at that time. Because there are many accidents occurred due to this same reason.

If we parents are a bit alert, we can avoid such tragedies. If something happens due to our carelessness, they will ask us in the future, why we did it to them. I hope these safety tips will help us all to raise our kids safe. These are the tips I remembered while doing this video. If you too have any idea about some other important safety tips for kids, please share them with me. I am eager to hear from you!
