Major Attractions in Munnar

 

The trip from Kochi to Munnar is very exotic and adventurous.  The best way to enjoy the beauty of the journey to Munnar is to travel by road. During this journey, we can see major attractions in Munnar–lush greenery, tea plantations, and  Spice Garden. Beautiful waterfalls in Valara and  Cheeyapara can be easily accessible through this route.

Attractions In Munnar

1. Tea Plantations:

Munnar is the center of Tea estates. This hill station is situated at an altitude of about 1600 meters from sea level. Along with tea, coffee, and spice plantations are there in the valley. This hillside is picturesque and creates a lush green background.

2. Tea Museum:

This museum is in the Nallathanni estate. While visiting the museum we will get a picture of the history and growth of the tea industry. Various stages of tea processing can be seen.

3. Pothenmedu viewpoint:

This spot gives a magical view of Munnar. Valleys covered with Tea and spice plantations give an amazing view. For adventure lovers, it is an ideal spot for trekking and hiking.

4. Devikulam:

An attractive picnic spot with exotic flora and fauna and cool weather. The landscape is awesome. Devikulam offers fishing. The Sita Devi Lake is blessed with a charming ambiance.

5. Anaiyrangal Dam:

The dam is surrounded on one side by Forest and on the other side by Tea estates. This area gives stunning views. The place is suitable for boating and picnic.

6. Government Botanical Garden:

A good collection of flowers and plants can be seen here.  This garden is open on all days. There is a children’s park where children could play and enjoy. Also, the family can relax in the sitting area. Thus, it is the best place for families.  There is a fountain show in the evening and at night this garden looks beautiful with wonderful lighting arrangements.

7. Kalari Kshetra:

It is a must-visit place. Kalaripayattu, an ancient martial art of Kerala, and Kathakali, the traditional art form, are performed here.
