Kerala Toddy Shops - Yummy Food in Kerala

Ask any Malayali to take you to a nice bar, chances are, they will take you to their favorite toddy shop first. Kallu is a favorite alcoholic beverage of Malayalis and toddy shops (or as we Malayalis like to call them, ‘Kallu Shaaps’) are a common sight in Kerala. From the traditional shanties to modern a/c restaurants, these have always been a part of Malayalis. Unlike bars, kallu like also provide tasty food. What more does a Malayali want? Bitter experiences are not what makes a person cry here but the unbelievable taste of the delicious, spicy food that goes really well with kallu. Be it fish curry made with red, hot chilly or beef fried with a hella pepper, you will love it.

Anyone who comes to Kerala for short or long visits must find a toddy shop and see what we’re talking about. And as we already said, it’s not hard to find one here.
