Kanthari Chilli Can Be Grown on Terrace and Kitchen Garden

Embark on the Kanthari Chilli journey with careful preparation, ideally commencing by the end of March. Also known as Bird’s Eye Chilli, it transcends its role as a mere spice. Ensure success in your terrace garden by choosing high-quality vegetable seeds for healthy and thriving plants. Consider cultivating Kanthari Chilli, a versatile and compact plant that can flourish in your terrace garden.

Use and Benefits:

Kanthari Chilli, enriched with antimicrobial and anti-fungal properties, not only enhances the flavor of dishes but also mitigates heart disease risk, prevents blood clots, and serves as a natural painkiller. Beyond its culinary prowess, it holds various medicinal benefits, including cholesterol and blood pressure reduction. This short-lived plant, adorned with small aromatic fruits and white flowers, offers both spice and health advantages, aiding in weight loss, joint pain relief, and immunity enhancement—a versatile and beneficial choice for culinary delight and overall well-being.

Season

The ideal time to sow Kanthari Chilli seeds is from January to March, ensuring favorable conditions for germination and laying the foundation for a successful cultivation journey.

Sowing in terrace

Get some pots from a garden store or use old containers from your kitchen. Fill the pots with a mix of soil, sand, and compost. Make sure the soil is a bit wet before you plant the seeds or little plants. Keep an eye on them as they grow in your terrace garden.

To cultivate Kanthari, begin by soaking the seeds in warm water for several hours before sowing. Achieve optimal germination by placing 3 to 4 seeds per seed pot in nutrient-poor growing soil, ensuring they are adequately covered. Maintain a bright location with temperatures of at least 20°C during germination. Keep the soil consistently moist throughout the growth period.

Water the plants only when the topsoil appears dry, as they do not require excessive watering. Ensure their health by using natural fertilizers like cow dung or tea compost. Initiate growth in a seed tray with soil, sprinkle water, and keep it warm; you can expect to see sprouts in about a week or two. Grow green chilies in warm conditions, providing 5-6 hours of sunlight, and use organic potting soil enriched with vermicompost for essential nutrients and healthy growth.

Care:

As the plants mature, be aware of the considerable variance in the days it takes for a particular variety to reach maturity. Some may yield ripe fruit in as little as 60 days, while others may require up to 120 days. Regular care involves maintaining warm temperatures during germination, providing nutrient-poor growing soil, and consistently keeping the soil moist.

Seed:

For successful planting, use high-quality seeds. Mahagrin seeds, renowned for their superior quality, are highly sought after in this field, ensuring a reliable beginning for your cultivation.
