Originally part of the ancient kingdom of Elangalloor, the area was a small village where the early Christian community, converted by St. Thomas the Apostle, lived a simple life. Today, the church, located at the heart of Edappally near Kochi, remains a vital center of worship and a symbol of enduring heritage. First constructed in 594 AD as a modest building, it was enlarged in 1080 AD to meet the needs of its expanding congregation.
