The \u201cVenice of the East\u201d Alappuzha is famous for its boat races, backwater holidays, beaches, marine products and coir industry. Alappuzha<\/strong> or Alleppey<\/strong>, the Venice of the east, is considered to be the oldest planned city in this region and it has also bagged its name as one of the cleanest cities in India. Located 2.5 hrs from Kochi airport and 4.5 hrs from Trivandrum Airport, these backwaters attract a lot of tourists from across the world and from within India.<\/p>\n

 <\/sup>The famous regatta – the annual Nehru Trophy Boat Race is held on the Punnamada Lake near Alappuzha, on the second Saturday of August every year. This is the most popular and competitive boat race in India. Today it has become a part of competitive sport – CBL with 3 months of fanfare being held across Kerala in various spots..<\/p>\n

Alappuzha town consists of natural creations ranging from backwater canals, lagoons, lakes and more. Man has created some of the best resorts, houseboats, temples, churches and more. This Venetian Capital has become the favourite spot for travellers internationally today due to the immense Tourism potential. The backwaters of Alappuzha is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Kerala which attracts millions of domestic and international tourists to the district and employs a vast number of locals in the private sector. <\/sup>The largest lake in India \u2013 Vembanad Lake connects Kumarakom and Cochin to the North and Kollam to the South.<\/p>\n
